Cough Drops at School
During this cold and flu season there are many students dealing with troublesome coughing.  Please remember that cough drops are considered an over-the-counter medication and require a Medication Authorization on file here at school.  This Medication Authorization needs to be completed and signed by both the parent and the physician. The cough drops need to be kept in the office and dispensed per the physician's orders.  Please contact the school office to get a copy of the form if you need it.

Hopkins Parents and Grandparents: Do you have a spare 30 minutes one to four times per month? Many of our classes are in need of readers for the Read Aloud Program. This program encourages parents, grandparents, seniors and others to come into a classroom and read stories to the class. Being read to has been proven to be beneficial for all kids (and for those who read to them)! All that is involved is about 10 minutes picking out a book or books in the school library and about 20 minutes of reading time. If you are interested in reading for any of the following classes, please contact Michele Craig (Hopkins mom and Read Aloud Coordinator) at 303-797-6393.

Class reading days/times for those classes needing volunteers are as follows:
Skarwecki - Fri. - 11:15 - 11:45 a.m.
Wilson - Fri. - 9:00 a.m.
Hermanson - Tues./Thurs. - 2:40 - 3:00 p.m.
Lonie - Weds./Thurs. - 11:30 a.m. - 12:20 p.m.
Polette - Mon./Weds. - 11:30 a.m.
Cardenas - Fri. - 2:40 p.m.

Thank you to all of you who already volunteer your time at our school! For those of you who would like to take an active part in your child's school experience, this is an easy and enjoyable way to do it!

Please make sure to save March 14th for the Annual PTO Silent Auction!

PTO has scheduled Thursday, February 21st as Tattered Cover Day! Shop at the Tattered Cover Book Store in Highlands Ranch any time that day and Hopkins will get a portion of the proceeds from our purchases. Be sure to turn in a voucher (coming home in next week's folders) so that Hopkins gets credit!

Our very own Jane Treat will be at the Tattered Cover for storytelling from 6:30 - 7:00pm that day! Kids are welcome to come in their pajamas and hear some great stories before bedtime.

Field Day – May 20th
This year’s field day will have an Olympic theme in honor of the 2008 Olympics taking place in China. Each classroom will represent a different country.

Help Needed for Field Days – We really need several adult volunteers to run stations, be group leaders, help during set up/take down or help serve lunch. Please give Mrs. Hester a call at 303-347-4566 or email her at phester@lps.k12.co.us. If we have multiple helpers each person’s job will be easier. Please consider volunteering for all or part of the day. High school students are always welcomed.

• Bicycle inner tubes (preferably road not mountain)
• Bottled water (enough for an entire class)
