Hopkins Elementary Attendance
Excessive tardiness and absences have a negative impact on a child’s education. Regular and consistent attendance is essential for students in order for them to receive the maximum benefit for their education and learning. Being late to school not only impacts your child’s learning but also the learning of his/her classmates as they enter the room late. A minimum number of days being tardy can be expected during a school year; I would consider anything over 5 days tardy as excessive. If an unusual circumstance arises that could contribute to attendance issues, please let us know as soon as possible. As a reminder, it is important to call the school attendance line on each day your child is absent from school to excuse the absence otherwise they will be marked as unexcused for the day. The phone number for the attendance line is 303-734-5555. Thank you for your cooperation. Butter Braid Fundraiser
Our Butter Braid fundraiser is going on now through February 1. Get your orders in and help PTO have a successful fundraiser. Thank you for your continued support of PTO. Butter Braids will be delivered approximately February 8, 2010. Valentine’s Day We do not have any school-wide activities or parties planned for Valentine’s Day. The PTO will be giving out cupcakes during lunch on Friday, February 12, which is also an early dismissal day. Each class may have a classroom activity planned for that afternoon and you should expect to hear information from your classroom teacher soon. Clothing Donations
Mrs. Hester, Physical Education teacher, is collecting clothing for the Sheridan School District Clothing Bank. Her daughter, Cally, teaches kindergarten at Alice Terry elementary in Sheridan. When Mrs. Hester found out that her daughter’s class had students in it that did not have shoes, jackets, socks or clean pants to wear she decided that she would ask her friends for help. Mrs. Hester collects clothing from infant sizes all the way up to adult. She delivers the clothing to the clothing bank and works at the bank the first Saturday of every month. The clothing bank is open 3 days a week for homeless families to go to and get warm clothing for their children and themselves. If you would like to donate any gently used clothing to this project you can bring in your donations anytime and leave them in the gym. Mrs. Hester will leave tax donation forms in her box in the office. Thanks so much. Mrs. Hester Heritage High School Junior Belles Clinic The Heritage High School Liberty Belles Pom and Dance team are offering a Junior Belles Clinic February 16-18, 2010 for any girls Pre-K (ages 3-5) and K-6th grades.
