Meeting minutes from the March 11, 2008 meeting were approved.
 
PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
  • Weighted staffing
    • Information in newsletter on website and in the Tuesday folder
    • 7 staff members leaving due to retirements or personal reasons
  • China Trip
    • ArapahoeHigh School students going to China May 24-June 4
    • Do we want to send anything from our community to share with Chinese students?
    • We will put an announcement in the newsletter
    • Possibly donate a Memory Book, T-shirt and some art or writings from the students
  • District Budget
    • Due to declining enrollment and increasing costs, district has a $3M deficit
    • The district will cut $1.5M in costs at the central office rather than at individual schools and will take $1.5M out of reserve
      • They will cut pool points
      • They are freezing open positions
      • They are cutting 10 administrative positions
    • There are 86 districts state-wide with declining enrollment
 
FUNDRAISING
  • New Ideas for fundraisers next year
    • Eliminate Entertainment Books and Gift Wrap
    • Angie Webb
      • Believe fund raiser has a wide variety of products to choose from
        • 50% for school after $5000 raised
        • Have cookie dough
        • Will use if donations are under projections
    • Tracy will work on envelope to go home in 1st Tuesday Folder for next year with donation information
    • Fall Fundraisers – Donation, Artwork / Avon (lump together)
    • Spring Fundraisers – Silent Auction, Cookie Dough, Teacher Treats, Sock Hop
  • T-shirts
    • Small pink and Large black children’s t-shirts are most popular among students
    • Medium and X-Large are most popular among adults
    • Sold 58 total
  • Romano’s – Tuesday, April 15 both Highlands Ranch and Littleton locations
 
VIPS REPORT
  • We will have Bryce sell Teacher Treats tickets
  • Sock Hop
    • Will have a lot of food including CiCi’s pizza, Chick-Fil-A nuggets, Root Beer floats, Lemonade, Candy bars, Sno cones, Cotton Candy
    • 3rd Graders are making posters
    • Need kitchen coordinator and volunteer coordinator
  • VIPS thank you event will be May 9 and will be both Staff Appreciation and VIPS thank you
    • 7:30-9:30 with ceremony from 9:00-9:30
    • Both breakfast and coffee cart
 
VICE PRESIDENT REPORT
  • Board Slate
    • President is the only position still available
    • April 22 is the final vote
 
PRESIDENT’S REPORT
  • PTO Joint Scholarship committee met
    • Our PTO contributed $100
    • 25 applicants; awards will be $200-500 each
    • Final decisions April 9
 
TREASURER’S REPORT
  • March expenditures / income
    • Silent Auction brought in $4200
    • Cookie Dough sold $5650 – PTO receives $2262
    • King Soopers Certificates are in the red but we have cards in the safe
    • Box Tops does not have a final check in yet
  • Proposed 2008-2009 Budget
    • Remove E-Books, Gift Wrap, Halloween Carnival, SkateCity, Tattered Cover Night
    • Increase Box Tops, Donations
    • Decrease Target Card
    • Projected T-shirts ($300), Avon ($1000)
    • Projected income amount next year $18,150

  • Fine Arts Festival – May 2 from 5:30-7:30
    • Are we bringing baked goods?
