Ms. Wilson's Class News:
Week of 10/13/08
Show and Tell:
Due to the short school week, we will not be having Show and Tell during the week of October 13th. We will resume Show and Tell during the week of October 20th with the Letter F.
.
Math HomeLink:
This week's Math activity asks for children to explore coins at home. Children do not see and handle coins as frequently as in years past; working with your child on the names and values of coins throughout the school year will be excellent practice and skill reinforcement!
Teaching Table Books:
Suggestions for working with your child at home this week:
Ask your child to count the number of words on each page.
Notice punctuation marks: period, exclamation mark and question mark.
Talk about the first sound of words.
Library is Closed Next Week:
The school library will be closed for inventory next week. We will not be having library class and there will be no student check-outs next week. The library will re-open after conferences.
Parent-Teacher Conferences:
I look forward to meeting with each of you next week. If you have not already done so, please return the confirmation slip so that I know that the appointment time will work for you. Please know that you do not ever need to wait until conferences if you have a question or concern; feel free to e-mail or call at any time. There is no school for students on Thursday, October 16th and on Friday, October 17th.
PLC Late Start Day:
Kindergarten teachers spent Wednesday morning discussing reading assessments in order to better plan your child's instruction in phonics, phonemic awareness (sounds in words), fluency, comprehension and vocabulary.
